Okay okay we're still obsessed with this moody Jemez Springs styled elopement from a couple months back! Like, seriously Chris & Savannah's styled elopement was just radiating love and moodiness. We could not get enough! Everything about the day was so perfect. We drove up to Jemez Springs (about an hour and a half from Abq) with these two and wandered into the most beautiful meadow that even had a creek running through. You guys, I was ugly crying before the vows even started. I cannot overstate how GORGEOUS this spot was! And the perfect couple was icing. on. the. damn. cake! We're so excited to share the photos and film from this woodsy styled elopement with you!!

When we asked our friends, Savannah & Chris, to help us out with an elopement shoot, we had no idea where we wanted to take them. We knew that they were outdoorsy people and we wanted their elopement to reflect that. These two like to camp, hike and all the other things that we have no clue about haha! Tom and I bounced around ideas we had for their setting but couldn't pinpoint a place. That's when we remembered a day trip to Jemez Springs we took together years ago. Tom had just begun his videography journey and wanted to film in Jemez. It was both of our first times there, but we stumbled upon a trail that was so green and lush and gorgeous. When we remembered this trailhead we knew we had to drive back up and check it out! So after getting dates set with Savannah & Chris, we day tripped up top Jemez and found the exact trailhead we had scouted before! It was even more beautiful than we remembered it was and we instantly knew it would be the perfect place to show off Savannah & Chris' love.

Luckily, we had months to plan with Savannah & Chris. We knew the style we were going for and exactly what we needed to make it happen. Savannah got the most beautiful white dress, I (Baylee hehe) put together a gorgeous bundle of florals and when we arrived in Jemez, it was even more breathtaking than we imagined! When we first arrived, the sun was casting a harsh light over the whole field. Thankfully, within 20 minutes, clouds rolled in and cast the most soft light possible over these two beautiful people. They were absolutely glowing! We even had a sprinkle of rain come through towards the end of their ceremony giving us the most insane etherial-woodsy-fairytale elopement moment!
One of the things we love so much about our job is that we get to come along to these beautiful moments. We get to see the part of New Mexico that others don't. And while we're there, we're usually with two other people so in love that it makes the moment that much more special. Seeing the love on Savannah's face when Chris brushes her arm, or the sparkle in Chris' eyes when Savannah makes him laugh makes our job so special. These two made our jobs so fun. After the typical 20 minutes or so of loosening up, these two were absolute naturals on camera. Even with multiple lenses on them the entire time, they came ready for the photos and the film!! We had such a great time hanging out, we didn't want it to end!
When Tom and I got home to look through the footage and photos, we new immediately that we were both going to have some of the best work we've ever captured in this session. We planned this shoot for months together and outlined the story we wanted to tell with these photos and the film. We drew out inspiration and collaborated to inspire each other's work. This approach, we've learned, is how we push each other to get the absolute best shots we can get. This is why we believe it's so so so important to make sure the photographer and videographer you hire come together as a package deal. Wedding photographers and videographers are notorious for getting in each other's way to get the shot. You need a team that knows each other, collaborates and respects each other enough to work in tandem to get the best possible results. It also helps when you have a couple as hot as Savannah & Chris!!
We are seriously so excited to shoot another Jemez Springs Elopement in the future. In fact, we have one booked in July of 2023 that we cannot wait to shoot! Until then, check out the photos and film below
